The Great Glebe Garage Sale is a community event organized by the Glebe Community Association since 1986. 2011 is the 25th anniversary of the Sale!! Homeowners in the Glebe are the primary vendors working on their front lawns, driveways and porches. City of Toronto is proud to present the annual Doors Open Toronto - one weekend, once a year - when close to 150 buildings of architectural, historic, cultural and social significance open their doors to the public for a city-wide celebration. The program allows visitors free access to properties that are either not usually open to the public, or would normally charge an entrance fee. Many locations have organized guided tours, displays and activities to enrich the visitor experience. From heritage landmarks to modern structures, hidden gems, places of worship, halls of learning, boardrooms, bedrooms, breweries, lighthouses, mansions, museums, theatres, national historic sites, centres of rail travel, cemeteries, factories, banking halls, architects' offices and more. Ottawa a été la deuxième ville d’Amérique du Nord à organiser cet événement prestigieux, inspiré d’un programme européen populaire consacré au patrimoine bâti, à l’architecture et à la conception Chaque année, les visiteurs sont en première ligne pour découvrir des histoires remarquables qui ont contribué à l’essor de la région de la capitale nationale. La plus importante manifestation patrimoniale et architecturale à Ottawa, presque 400 000 visiteurs y ont participé depuis son lancement en 2002. Actuellement, 48 pays européens y participent, à l’occasion du Mois du patrimoine européen. De plus, l’Australie et les États-Unis se sont joints à ce mouvement couronné de succès. Portes ouvertes Ottawa est proposé à la communauté par la Ville d'Ottawa et un groupe de bénévoles dévoués, en collaboration avec Patrimoine Ottawa, Héritage Canada, l’Ottawa Regional Society of Architects et la Fiducie du patrimoine ontarien.
